Our 2011 Christmas Dinner
So we decided to do Turducken for Christmas.  Well, technically, it was Turkey, Duck and Guinea Fowl instead of chicken (TurdFowl?   Fowlturd? Hmmm....  I think we'll draw a veil over what to call it).  And, since it was a bit of an adventure, we decided to film the various stages.  It's in the oven as I write this, but hopefully I'll update it later on with pictures of the finished article.

So here is a Kevin and Elise production: the making of a Turducken (or whatever it should be called).

First, spread out your boned turkey....

the turkey

Then add the first layer of (sausage) stuffing...

Then add the duck, oriented the other way around....

Then add a layer of bread stuffing....

Then add your Guinea Fowl.....

And add another layer of sausage stuffing....

Then comes the tricky bit: turning this lot into one happy ball of meaty goodness....

stitched up birds

You really need a proper truss needle and twine for this, folks...

Almost done.  Now we just need to put it in the pan, put a bit more stuffing in each end and then sew up the ends....

And that's it.  It's in the oven now.  Will be back with pictures of the finished item later on, sobriety permitting.

Update:  Still sober, guests arriving in approx 2 hours... and here is what it looks like now:

And then it was done...

And it chopped up into nicely stratified pieces...

And some happy guests....
